Adirondack Corp. recognizes the civic duty of employees to serve on a jury when summoned. This policy outlines employee rights, responsibilities, and company procedures regarding jury duty leave.
This policy applies to all full-time and part-time employees who receive a jury duty summons from a federal, state, or local court.
Employees must notify their supervisor and Human Resources (HR) department as soon as they receive a jury duty summons.
A copy of the jury duty notice must be provided to HR for documentation.
Employees should keep their supervisor updated on the expected duration of their service.
Full-time employees will receive their regular pay for up to 5 days of jury service per calendar year.
Employees must provide proof of attendance from the court to be eligible for paid jury duty leave.
Employees may keep any compensation provided by the court for jury service.
If jury duty extends beyond the paid period, employees may use vacation time, personal leave, or unpaid leave.
Employees are not required to work on days when they are actively serving on a jury.
If an employee is released from jury duty before noon, they are expected to report to work for the remainder of their shift, unless otherwise approved by their supervisor.
Adirondack Corp. will not retaliate against any employee for fulfilling their jury duty obligations.
Employees will not lose benefits, seniority, or employment status due to jury service.
If jury service would cause severe operational hardship for the company, employees may request to defer their service by contacting the court.
Employees seeking exemption or deferral should discuss their options with HR before submitting a request to the court.
Failure to comply with this policy may result in disciplinary action. For questions regarding jury duty leave, employees should contact Human Resources.
